Making Space for Difficult Emotions

Overview

Burnout isn't always obvious. It can appear gradually through exhaustion, irritability, disconnection, or the feeling that even simple things require more energy than they used to.

We often imagine burnout as the moment someone can no longer continue.

But burnout can be much quieter than that.

You might still be showing up to work. Answering messages. Meeting deadlines. Taking care of everyone around you.

From the outside, everything can look normal.

Inside, things may feel different.

Things you once enjoyed feel like obligations. Small decisions become exhausting. Rest doesn’t seem to restore your energy. You become more irritable, distant, or emotionally flat.

These experiences don't automatically mean you're experiencing burnout, but they can be useful signals to pay attention to.

Instead of asking, “How can I push through this?” consider asking something gentler:

What has been asking too much of me lately?

Recognizing that something needs attention can be the beginning of meaningful change.

We share occasional insights on personal growth and emotional well-being to navigate balance.
